The Master of Arts in instructional technology is an online degree program for individuals who wish to increase their understanding of technology’s role in the work of teaching and learning. This online degree is designed to prepare individuals to use current and emerging technologies to create instructionally-sound learning environments. The degree prepares individuals for positions in instructional technology, educational technology, and instructional design as they exist in a variety of settings, including business and industry.

A composite GRE score of 300 or better is required for all candidates, irrespective of degree program, who are seeking an appointment as a college-sponsored Graduate Assistant.
Curricular Requirements
- Candidates for the master’s degree must earn a minimum of 30 semester hours of credit.
- There are 15 required credit hours (5 courses) and 15 elective credit hours (5 courses) of CAT/INTE hours; one elective course (3 credits) may be taken outside the INTE program from other programs/colleges at The University of Alabama, or transferred from another university, with advisor approval.

Accepted graduate students are invited to apply for a variety of grants and scholarships offered through UA Online (https://online.ua.edu/tuition-financial-aid-scholarships/scholarships/).
While a GRE score is not required for admission, preference for a limited number of college-funded assistantships is given to applicants for full-time study who take the GRE and achieve a composite score of 300 or better. Other competitive assistantship, fellowship, and scholarship opportunities may be available for applicants without GRE scores.
