The University of Alabama has long subscribed to the ethical principles for confidentiality of student records that are recommended by the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers. Following passage of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (the Buckley Amendment) and as amended, the University established policies and procedures to implement that legislation.
